Character Development
Using a choice-based system, students earn merits/demerits for daily choices. This allows students to recognize the positive and negative consequences for personal decisions.
With self-awareness, positive attitude and hard work, students progress through six levels. Each status advancement earns additional responsibilities and privileges that for most students, were preciously taken for granted. This process allows students to learn life skills, social skills, team work, respect for one another, and appreciation for what parents have done for them.
Psychological Evaluations
Different from other specialty boarding schools, Horizon Academy works with Dr. Marcel Chappuis, PhD, to complete a psychological evaluation upon enrollment. With these assessments, we can get a solid, accurate picture of the strengths and weaknesses, allowing us to address the individual needs of each student.
