Horizon Academy is located in the high desert of southwestern Nevada. As we are secluded and very private, we do not make our physical address available on our website. We are located in a small Nevada village on the California border near a major highway. The nearest airport is McCarran International Airport, in Las Vegas. Hotel accommodation is affordable and nearby. School tours and campus visits can be easily arranged through your admissions representative or, following enrollment of your child at Horizon, directly through the school.

Understanding the signs and symptoms of illness is an important skill set to have when working with youth since early recognition and treatment can greatly improves the recovery process.

Suicide Prevention

Being proactive with suicide prevention is critical. This training provides Horizon Academy staff with important information and techniques to accomplish the following:

  • Recognize behavioral patterns and other warning signs that indicate that a young person may be at risk for suicide.
  • Actively intervene, usually by talking to a young person in ways that explore the level of risk without increasing it.
  • Ensure that young people at risk access the services necessary to reduce that risk.
